The results are up for the GSPCA National Amateur Championship. The winner was FC/AFC Gabbe's High Plains Rock Solid, owned, bred and handled by Kevin Waide. There were 95 dogs entered and it took 6 days to run the stake. The National Futurity starts today. There are 89 entries in the Futurity.
Results are at http://www.gspca.org/NFT/results.htm . They are doing a very nice job of posting pics this year. The Running Order and pics can be found by going through the home page, http://www.gspca.org .
There were 303 total entries. Three weeks give or take to run the whole event.

A note on Kevin Waid's dog...she did an outstanding job in the second series. She ran a big Sd race, had 6 perfect finds, lots of style, manners, just a neat dog. Out of 96 dogs who competed, 50 were clean. Speaks volumes for the pro and amateur efforts on the dogs in this stake. I am amazed this dog hasn't won more. As usual you had many opinions of who should have placed where, but I saw Toby, Tarkus, Chloe, Gabby, and others run and imho she was awesome.
Rodger, Kevin got a pup from the Hud/Libby litter. Picked mine up while up there, TrueBlu's Leather and Lace, Lacie, she is a fireball!!

Blake, Does my heart good to know that Bill's placing those pups with trialers. Especially the guy that bred, ownded and handled the Amateur champion. Congratulations to Mr. Waid!
Can't wait to see some pictures of Lacie! Maybe I'll see her at the Nov trial. Glad you and Bill connected on that deal.

Any of you guys catch this on the gspchronicle page that covered the Amt?

Calcutta Purse - $5,335.00
Top Dogs
NGDC FC Echo's Little Bit of Clown - $450.00
MSK's Diamond S Hey Jude - $275.00
Miss Millenium von Greiwe - $25.00
Not sure what to make of a spread that has a $25 bid in the top 3. Must be a missing a zero?
Kudos to Arlene Walker to get these finer points covered. The GSP Chronicle and GSPCA have been doing a great job this year.

I wasn't commenting on the calcutta numbers, just the number of braces of Fut. run yesterday. Ask Rodger, he posted the article from the GSP Chronicle with the numbers in it. I don't know anything about it, I was not there.
But look at it this way. There were 96 dogs in that stake. Let's say 100 just to make the math simple. And a calcutta purse of 5335.00 . Divide that by 100 and you have an average bid of $53.35 per dog. With some doings going as high as $450.00 obviously some dogs went for a lot less than $53.35
They probably had some standouts that went for high bucks, and quite few other dogs that went for $25 or less. Maybe some that were not bought at all, or were bought by their owners for 5 bucks. About typical.

Thanks Rodger. I have gotten stuck here at work, so will not see him run. I am going down on Friday or Sat. to bring a horse to Waresk for work, and pick Spot up. So I am sitting here in the office wishing him luck also.
Good luck to Hud and Phil also.
If one of us doesn't get in the money, well then it must have been all politics.

According to the GSPCA site. Fog delayed the start this morning. Supposed to finish up today though. AA Starts tomorow morning.
Updates and pictures can be found on the GSPCA site. A real nice job there doing this year.

Straight fgrom the judges mouth,
"Had 4 in the book and an additional 30 they could have put in the book. " During the running, only 2 were lost, one by Brath and the other by Chandler.
A few birdless dogs but almost all had multuple finds.
Changed the course and man was it the deal. Will just be better.
The one observatiuon that I would make was that we never had a dog make "the" allage move that would have won it. Have pictures of the course and will post it later.

Good friend called me from camp tonight, they have made it through 13 braces as of today. I believe he said they have 3 or 4 dogs they could use from day 1, and 1 dog from all of today, they had a rough day today, should finish up tomorrow. The temp is supposed to be mid 70's tomorrow.
From my undestanding John's Spot dog had a good race as well as Moon and Sonny.
Thats all I know

If you are asking about the number that appears in front of each dog's name in the running order posted on www.gspca.org, that is just the order the dog's were drawn in. They hold a public drawing once all entries are in to determine the running order. So dog 1 and dog 2 would get braced together in Brace 1, dog 3 and dog 4 in Brace 2, and so on.
The odd numbered dog is called the "top dog" and the even numbered dog is the "bottom dog." The only significance of that is that the top dog is supposed to wear a red or orange collar, and the bottom dog a yellow collar, to tell them apart in the field.
Sometimes you will see a split brace. The brace number is the number in between the two dogs. If a dog is drawn in a brace and then goes into heat they will first try to drop the dog down to run in the last brace if the last brace is a bye dog. But if the last brace is not a bye dog, then they will split the brace into two braces, each of the two dogs running as a bye dog (by itself), with the female in heat running in the last of the braces for the day.
So if you had dog 37 and dog 38 drawn in Brace 19, and dog 37 is a female that goes into heat, they would run dog 38 as a bye dog in Brace 19, and then drop dog 37 (the female in heat) down to the last brace of the day and run that as a bye dog.
I mention that because it did happen this year, so if you were to go over the running order for some of the earlier stakes it might not all make sense to you without knowing the "in heat" rules.

simon wins!
He is a great example of a true gundog, and a wild bird dog.
This win, along with honorable mentions last year in both open and am
nationals, and his akc gundog championship are proof of his trialing ability,at all levels.
Now if you really want to be impressed take him hunting.
I was right when I asked dan for a pup out of simon,he has proven it time and time again.
I can bet there was one happy owner, and a happy lady in washington who simon just is crazy about.
way to go dan, simon, and the rest of the dunfur team.
