Hello,
Since i lost the remote to our old dogtra 1200nc...
I just bought a new one, a sportdog 435.
Love it so far, cheap and durable. although i have no clue how to use all its features. (tone and vibrate)
I was wondering what you guys used the vibrate and tone for, i was thinking maybe i could teach him to sit on the tone similar to how he does on the whistle?
I want to use the collar to its full ability,
Thanks,
Isaac and Banks

Re: New e-collar, help?
My collars don't have a vibrate, but the tone is very useful. I use it to double check that the collars and remote are on and paired/functioning properly. Much better than shocking myself twice to make sure.

I love my sportdog collars! I also use tone to check they are one. But also have used the tone instead of a clicker, works great and dogs respond really well.

As an aside, I would like to congratulate you and Banks on all you have achieved with your young dog. This hunting season will be great fun for you both.
I use the tone feature as a recall signal for my dogs in the field, but you can teach your dog to do a remote sit, recall or whatever you like. The thing I like about using the tone is that it is quiet in the field, not like a whistle or yelling. Have a ton of fun with your dog this fall.

Re: New e-collar, help?
I use the tone on my collar to check it's on, of course. And for the pooch it's used as an attention getter, like saying his name. In training, to reinforce that I want him to listen. When pheasant hunting, if he starts to get too far out, I just beep his collar and he moves back in. It's a handy feature, and I've found it's about the only button I have to use anymore.

I use vibrate for recall if he's in the thick stuff and can't hear as well with his big spaniel ears. He feels it and knows it means come back. If he doesn't respond to the vibrate then he gets a nick but he understands the vibrate so it's never necessary.
