moving after retirement

Post by big_fish » Thu Oct 03, 2013 5:02 pm

I believe I have talked my wife in to moving to the north woods after retirement it is still a few years away but now it is time to start looking. I would love to move where there are still grouse I was thinking about Maine, Wis or Minn Im from ohio so I don't think snow would be a problem. Where would you go?

I would consider n. eastern Minn. US HWY 2 north, Cass lake east. Look to the communities Nashwauk, Orr, Cook, Hibbing , Grand Rapids Virginia, etc. The Iron range area in prime ruffed grouse habitat. If you fish well, there are 2,000 fishable lakes in Itasca and St. louis co. alone. Housing is very reasonable and land taxes are cheap when compared to the rest of the state.
