Chaps

Post by birdogg42 » Sat Oct 26, 2013 11:50 am

What brand of chaps do u guys think are the most durable? Im not worried about them being to hot. I have got a pair of Filson double tin already. Not sure if any chaps are hotter than them. But they are almost worn out and I am lookng t get another pair.

Thanks mike.

I have and love Mule chaps. Unfortunately, they went out of business or stop making them.

Might try sending them back to filson for repair, might be pleasantly surprised just how good their customer service is.

Filson will replace them, just like LL Bean. No questions asked.

I like my filson single tin. My legs get to sweaty in the doubles. We have a filson outlet store about fifteen minutes from my house that have the singles, and the field pants on sale right now for 45 dollars a pair and the doubles for 60.

Mules chaps 5 years 50 dollars
Dans chaps 2 years 20 dollars
Filson chaps 15 years 110 dollars
I like the Filson chaps they are really hot even in 20 degree temps. Mules are real nice I have the summer time chaps with the vent on the back of the leg I wear them more than anything else I have. Dans are good chaps I don't like buying them every two years. The reason I have three sets is the Dans and Filson chaps get loaned out and I wear the mules. I've had one problem with the mules and they replaced them for me at no charge. The Filson and Dans I've not had a problem with but the Dans I can only get two seasons not of before I replace them

I wear Mule chaps, inexpensive and they are tough - I rabbit hunt a lot and go through some rough cover. It took me two exchanges to get my size where it needed to be, customer service was fantastic. Definitely still in business.

I still have two pair of Wick chaps that I found and repaired when Dad passed, IMHO no one has made a better product but unfortunately they truly are out of business.

I did look the other day and see that Nite Lite has come out with some new briar-proof products, inexpensive but not sure on the quality.

What made you decide to get those over the mules?

I to have had great luck with the Cabelas dry plus. light, comfrotable and dry as advertised.
What brand is it that you see being worn by the field trialers all the time? Especially pictures of the National Championship.

I just went down and had a seamstress put a zipper into my single tin filsons, hopefully now they will be easy on easy off. Not much worse then having to take your boots off at the truck to get your chaps off.

This really interests me. A little off the traditional path, but sure looks like they'd work. I'm going to try a set this fall.
