Anyone in the area?

Post by HKeith » Mon Dec 30, 2013 4:23 pm

New to the site and to gun dog training. Anyone in the central Florida area that could give me some pointers and help?

Go buy some for yourself -- nobody's going to just "give you some pointers' -- The best ones are expensive  ... :P

Wow. That's sort of cold, isn't it? I've read several posts where people are willing to give some pointers to new dog trainers.

I think he was referring to "give you some pointers" (ie, pointing dogs) - I believe it was a joke. That Del is too funny!

How did that go?

A pointer is always a pointer but
A pointer isn't always a pointer.

Useless posts are useless, an example would be most of the ones above. By "pointers" I mean training tips which I assumed was obvious. I am near Tampa.

Welcome! I'm nowhere near Florida but I'd check out the perfect start perfect finish video series if I were you. They cover most situations you may run into. Experience and reading a dog comes into play. But like some of the previous posts say it could be expensive. And not always worth it.

Find a pro trainer and pay to learn... Probably the best way and they can help with hands on lessons.

We know what you meant by "pointers." I think he's just having some fun and getting in a joke when he can, relax. Two uses of "pointers," both of which were obvious to understand in there phrases.

I am aware that it was a joke, I wasn't mad.

Check this place out. CFFTC.com
I was going to go up this weekend and check it out while a big training event was going on. But between a toilet line that flooded my house earlier in the week and a bad cold I just could not make it.
