Birds in the south

Post by sckwest1 » Sat Jan 11, 2014 5:46 am

Wife would like to move somewhere warm. Any ideas on places warm with good or at least decent wild birds? Thanks

The only place I can think of if that's all you hunt would be AZ

It's only 72F in Tucson today but higher temps are predicted later this next week.

Florida! The temperature is most definitely warm. Haven't had snow since the early 90's. We have ducks all over and tons of quail.

Ton of birds in flight pins,Wild birds not so much. North Fl and panhandle are your best bet but population is way down.

Thank You, after reading this, I did a little searching and found that the highest kill was on a WMA in NW Fla. Their was an asterick *, alongside this stating the hunters brought in there own birds!!

I am talking about North Florida. The population may be low in some areas, but I see some just about every day.

I also get into birds on almost every trip. Best day last year was 7 covies . Last week found four covies and another hunt last week one covey. Knock on wood I have hunted around 8 times this year and found birds on all hunts. All wild birds and all on public land. This may not be as good as some places but it is enough for me to have fun.
