Missing Brittany - Damascus/Lakewood, PA area

Post by Karen » Wed Jan 22, 2014 2:56 pm

Friends are missing their orange roan male brittany. He got out on their 100 acres on Sunday 1/19, and hasn't been seen since. Spence has run and hunted this land since he was a pup, so they think he may have gotten off on deer and couldn't find his way home.

Animal control in the area called the owners today to say a Brittany was seen running in the Damascus area around 2:30 today. They have family in the area out looking for him, but if there is anyone on the board from that area, please keep an eye out for Spence.

Owner says he's wearing a blue collar with their contact information on it, that he's friendly but independent so he may not just walk up to you (may need some coaxing with food).

The owners have been in touch with police, animal control, kennels, vets and have flyers up all over the place. Their story has been shared all over Facebook, so they're doing everything in their power to locate Spence.

Thanks!!

have they posted him on the local and surrounding Craigslists? If someone found him, they may have taken him home, and home may be not in your local Craigslist area!
I helped get a dog back home from 100 miles from his home via Craigslist. Someone found him, drove him all the way to their house... and then listed him in that locale. Stupid!!!!! But it happens.

Hope they find him... it's cold out there

Yes they have done all that. This is the latest update via FB:
Possible Spence sighting this afternoon about 14 miles from home, near intersection of 371 and 191 Damascus township PA. Spotter saw Brittany that looked like picture running down road. As approached he ran into field and out of sight. Search has not located him. Anyone in this area please keep an eye out. Thanks!!!

ASPCA and the local police and fire co are usually the best source to contact for a missing dog. face book was also a big help when my dog was lost. Just wondering does he have an ID chip in him? I am way outside of that area but will keep my eyes and ears open for any information on him. Keep the faith and he will turn up soon.

Apparently he was found by a family in the area Laurie was searching in yesterday. He followed their springer into the house. They said he was fine (uninjured) but starving, so they fed him his dinner, called the number on his collar, and he was hanging out with their dog.

Because it was late in the evening and Laurie is unfamiliar with the roads (Poor Spence is from VA), they arranged for her to pick him up this morning, so as of 20 minutes ago, he's safe and sound back with his owners.

Happy ending after 6 days on the run :D :D

I am soooo glad they found him. I cringe at the thought of loosing one of mine.
