Johnny House Suggestions
Johnny House Suggestions
Does anyone have any suggestions on Johnny Houses? I have looked at the Phantom Plans, and the wildlife plans as well. Not sure which works best? Suggestions would be great, thanks!

Love the pictures, I wish I was that clever. I think I will try to build a couple in the spring. Thanks for posting the pics.

I built one out of a barrel as well. I put a ledge up at the top for them to fly up on and sun. Although I haven't stocked it yet, I plan on doing so perhaps this weekend if I can find some birds. Thats a really nice one. Gives me some ideas on how to get feed to them.
I think I would rather use the traditional jonny house for long term though. The one I built will only be holding a few birds for a month or so and not many.

Wow, that is thinking outside the Johnny House box for sure!
How many do you think one that size can comfortably hold? 5-8?

depends on what kind of bird you put in there. About a dozen quail or 6-8 chucker. You gotta realize that they will not spend the majority of their time there.ben33127 wrote:Wow, that is thinking outside the Johnny House box for sure!

Have used these in the past. We attached a rope to top of barrel and would hoist barrel up high enough so dogs couldn't get to them while training. Then would drop them to ground with rope still tight enough to keep barrel from tipping over when coyotes and such try to tip them over and get supper.

Exactly, they are raised off the ground out here so the coyotes don't get them.hi-tailyn wrote:Have used these in the past.
