Did you check out the producers found on:

www.mynaga.org

There were two in northern AL, 2 in southern TN and two or three in northwest GA. All looked to be reasonably close to Birmingham.

Presumably that's not relative to the distance to your bird supplier - no parts of TN or GA are reasonably close to Birmingham. And north Alabama ain't terribly nearby, either.

ben, go to the website Ray's pointed you at, plug in your ZIP code and you'll find some suppliers within 30-40 miles away. Conversely, you didn't specify what kind of birds, but you could get in touch with the Black Warrior Retriever Club http://www.blackwarriorretrieverclub.com/ and find out where they get their birds for tests and trials (and training) and if the supplier handles other birds than ducks (they usually do, right, Ray? And also hope our man Carl is well on the road to recovery).
