Wow. Only one setter in the running for the National this year, eh? Guess I'll be rootin' for Bo and Just Irresistible (love the back story on that dog). Here's to more shags next year

Nope...make it at least two. Ray Warren just qualified Betty Shearhouse's female at the Alabama Open AA...CH Prodigy's Bonfire

I will check her FB posts. I thought Betty mentioned the 2014 National... I will double check...She states she will be at the drawing on Saturday...hmmm...would they close the nominations yet allow the Continental and Alabama results to come in?

They close the nominations to all dogs already qualified, and then allow those that qualify later. Bonnie will run. Her win at heck Creek was in awful conditions on grounds that takes a running dog, yet she also won in Kentucky on a tighter course. She has grit, but 3 hours at Ames can be tough on all of them. Long range weather does not look good for the first week, more rain means even more mud, and freezing temps are hard on their feet.

Were she to win it would be one of the quickest ascensions in history. Ten years ago Betty was running an Irish setter in AKC walking trials and was green. Just to qualify a setter female is against most odds, like winning the lottery type odds, except she did it with skill and hard work.

Thx for the recap Neil and I thought she would get in. Thx!
I heard from Blake that she ran under UGLY conditions. He (Blake) stated before they called the CH,that no matter who they named CH that was a great performance.
