GSP Stud dogs in NW

Post by Waterdogs1 » Wed Feb 05, 2014 10:07 am

I was wondering what was out their in the northwest. I have a bitch I would like to breed around July and am starting to look now. Preference would be to a titled sire. I just do not know what is out their or where I could start my search.

Talk to Doug Favor, lives right by you. Has some of the nicest wild bird dogs around. Hunted with him all last weekend.

There are tons of good gsp's out here in the nw. What kind of titles, what style of dog etc more specific info on what your looking for would help a bit...

My bitch is not a huge running dog she is a beauty on point and is retrieving fool. She did not get hunted a ton last season but this season I made it a point to get her out as much as I could. She did pretty well for the bird numbers we had to work with. She goes with you and runs to the front and as this season progressed she has just gotten better every trip. I am going to train her till it gets to hot and try to have her finished before next season. I am a retriever guy so this is a learning experience for me. I have had shorthairs in the past and I love watching them work. It has been a bit of a struggle to train retrievers and throw her into the mix but it has been fun.

There are a lot of nice GSP's out here. So I'm told :) If you have time there are quite a few trials (AKC/AF) coming up in mid April where there will be LOTS of GSP's entered. I believe a couple are GSP only. That would be a good place to go to talk dogs, and you can take a look at some of the best dogs (GSP's) around.

The trials are being held at the Robertson/Richardson Ranch on Little Willow Rd. out of Payette. There are three trials, I believe, starting the 11th of April and going for 10 -11 days, each scheduled one right after the other. It'll be the "Who's Who" in the GSP world.

I would call Dean Crabbs and breed to his Jake dog. George Wilson, and Rick Dodge both have great dogs and all three live in the same area as you. Emmett Burns also lives up there and Fly is an incredible animal, not sure if he is still around though.

What kinda of titles you looking for and what are you looking to do? I wouldn't just pick a stud on convince I would look at pedigree that fits you can always have your pitch shipped in or have sperm shipped to your vet. I would look at Friedelsheims Gsps , Stillwater shorthairs and its a nice Stud in Oklahoma named Dez whos owner is a member here. Sundance German Short Hairs is another but hes in the south now.

I wonder if George Wilsons dog Buzz is still alive or if he collected him. My first dogs years ago was out of FC Edlous Rock N Knock and he was way awsome.

I don't know if he is or not. I have seen both Jake and Buzz run a few times and I would breed to either in a heartbeat.
