PA Grouse Trials

Post by ROTTnBRITT » Wed Feb 19, 2014 10:21 am

Anyone on here running their dog in any of the PA grouse trials?
Im planning on entering my pup at Nittany or West Branch.

This will be my first time. Makes me nervous just thinking about it. :)

Go and enjoy your dog.

The odds are that your dog will do just fine, you will make a couple of rookie mistakes and that will be that.

I would enter my dog and when I got to the line I would mention to the bracing handler that this was my first time at a trial.

Then let the dogs go and do what they do. You can fake the rest.

Really....go have fun.

Well I went and had fun. As luck would have it, I was drawn in the first brace. We didnt have the best run, but I made it back to the truck with my dog. I learned a few things and we are heading out to Marienville, PA this weekend to have another go at it.

I may have gotten bit by a bug. :D

Glad you had fun. My father runs brittanies in grouse trials and his dogs have made a name for themselves because of how well the do. One is a CH because of a grouse trial.

Up this way however we're having another tough spring. The first trial was scheduled for next weekend, but has been cancelled. I just got another 6+ inches where I run dogs and right now its sleeting/freezing rain.
