German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Central Iowa

Post by sh0rthair » Mon Mar 10, 2014 2:56 pm

German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Central Iowa is officially accredited by the AKC as of today.
We plan on doing some kind of raffle to raise money so we can have a field trial this fall or next spring.
We are thinking of doing a raffle on a blank pistol (or two) and some smaller items.
Any ideas for raffle items would be appreciated.

Cool beans! Do you have a website or Facebook page I can follow for the club?

Thanks Sean!
I will send you one when I get one made up. I was holding off on alot of that stuff like the application and a web page until I got AKC's approval.
I was told that it could take up to a year to get accredited with AKC and it only took 2 months. In between training dogs and going to field trials, I will start getting alot of the details done now. Thanks again.
Jeff

Jeff...is the AKC making the club hold a number of sanctioned events before they allow the club to hold licensed events?

The AKC has "Fast Track". This is where the club can forgo the sanctioning process by documenting significant experience within the club.

Good!....They did that a while back for a club that I helped found.

The other option is a mentored event. That is the process we went through and had members from a nearby club mentor us during the process. Our club was also made up of experienced members as well as a handful of newbies. We are also helping to train inexperienced members at each trial to help with different jobs so we don't put all the work on the same people for every trial. PM me your email address and I will help you out with documents etc if you get the process started to form a club and hold trials.
