The kind that flush their own birds on command then do the drop (and remain steady to shot and fall afterward - until commanded/released to retrieve).

FCI = Federation Cynologique Internationale, a worldwide association of various national dog registeries, not recognized by AKC. Usually used to connote the European type dogs. I suspect the one in the commercial is a pointer registered in France.

I think that is a good looking dog, but I cringe everytime I see the commercial.

The AKC and FCI have a reciprocal agreement to honor the registrations of each others registry.
The FCI model involves the founding countries breed club to be the "owner" of the breed standard. All other countries under the auspices of the FCI adopt and use the breed standard from the founding country. Canada and the US are the only two countries in the world that do not operate under the FCI umbrella and the breed standards in these two countries are "owned" by the National Breed Club in their country, not the founding country.

The FCI does not have a registry. AKC recognises the registries of those members of FCI that meets their standards and wish to be recognized. AKC is not a member but FCI does recognise the AKC registery.

Supposedly the dog is a Czech dog? I don't know information that carries with it, if it means anything. It looked to me like a thin Great Dane at first.

I thought it was a great ad from the perspective of who Land Rover wants to sell cars to. I can see that type of exposure making some of those car buyers want to get a pointer, just like they saw in the ad, though. Which would not be a good thing.
