Good Luck, much higher percentages of getting a nice Black from a reputable breeder.

But Chocolates have come around some....

tallgrass kennels seems to have some pretty decent pups, not sure if they have any chocolates. My pup is from tiger mountain, and he is a retrieving freak. They have chocolates, but they are much smaller labs, tall and skinny. Have to watch them if you are hunting in really cold weather.

I went through the same searching a few years back and ended up buying this guy as a stud http://www.gundogbreeders.com/pedigree1512.html. they were selling off their field stock and I ended up with two females from them also. he's done well for us and we breed him to our yellows and blacks. The chocolate pups are always sell first, yellows second and blacks last. They're nowhere near the looks of some of the show labs but ability and longevity are what I'm after.
