55 gallon barrel johnny house

how many quail can I put in this type of house, I've read anywhere from as little as 8 any as many as 30, does anybody use this type of house with good results, how high off the floor do you put a nipple type waterer and also feeder

Just depends on how nice the birds, 10 - 12 is about right.

Feed/water about 5" if they are normal sized.

Because of the portability they work in certain applications, but I prefer the higher capacity of a 4 x 4 JH. I never bothered to hoist them up a tree, just moved them arround to where neded.

ive kept 10 in there at most times and it seemed to be ok. im sure i could have put a few more in, but id say around 10-12 comfortably.
