Nice photo of the rooster strutting his stuff! I just got back from town having coffee and we saw a rooster casually walking across the road. I stopped and we watched him for maybe a minute while my GWP was singing all sorts of tunes to me! I love the springtime in the north woods. I think I have as of yesterday 12 Drumming Logs marked on my Garmin. I just read the other day that a rooster will usually spend most of his life within 2-300 yards of their drumming logs. The one log I found last year is a large Cedar blowdown, maybe 30 inches at the base. I had a trailcam set up on this last year and got some really nice pics!

I was in the field in Northern WI meeting with a couple Town Chairmen earlier this week and while we were looking multiple waterway crossings I heard a lot of drumming. In one 5 mile stretch I bet I heard 30+ drums over an hour and a half. No sure some were the same bird, but it was a good sign that Spring is looking up for grouse.
