Wild Kingdom Moment
Wild Kingdom Moment
Not bird dogs but canine none-the-less...caught this little Wild Kingdom moment - of course I was right at the end of my lens' 500mm focal length so kind of small resolution. I cropped as much as I could and still retain some crispness to the shots.
Would you believe there were 5 wolves laying in wait and present in each frame of the series (before cropping)? Here is the "after" as they all reveal themselves:
Pretty cool wildlife theater...best laid plans but the underdogs win again!!

Re: Wild Kingdom Moment
Looks like a target rich environment.
Re: Wild Kingdom Moment
Great stuff DG, that must have been incredible to watch the drama unfold.
Re: Wild Kingdom Moment
Nice Douglas. Are the humming birds hatching?
Re: Wild Kingdom Moment
Yes! Some great drama courtesy Mother Nature.
This is not a good quality photo but we watched this cow elk stand in the river for over 3 hours one day...not sure why but the wolves don't seem to want to get their feet wet chasing down game. If you've got some keen eyes you can see a black wolf laying in the mid/upper left area of this photo and there are two more greys in the sage feeding on a carcass that you can't see...the thought was it may have been her calf they found or took down. She eventually swam out after the wolves moved off.
Yes, a very target rich environment...minus hummingbirds Kyle but I wasn't looking for hummingbirds...it was the fur and fangs tour!!
