What amount of pitch do you guys use on your slabs? Looking for really good run off so any advice is appreciated.

I'm going to take a guess here and say you probably want a 1/4" grade on it, maybe even 3/8". Anything less than 1/4" per foot slope may cause standing water.

The standard I've been reading is 1/4" per foot. Anybody use 3/8" per foot and have good results? Too much pitch for icy weather? You input is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

1/4" probably a safe bet.

Keep it simple, set your form boards with a 4' level and have 1/2 the bubble over
The line that is gonna give you plenty of slope.

Or buy a plumbers level for $20 and know your exact pitch.

I do not have a concrete kennel floor where I live now, but I did at my previous house. It was built on a little hillside, the runs were 16 feet deep and the drop from front to back was 2 feet. I loved it.

Minimum 1/4 inch/ft I would recommend. When they pee I like to see it immediately start running off. LOL. Make sure you put a light broom finish on it too.

We build showers for a living and pitch the floors 1/4" per foot.

I went with 3/8", here is what the finished floor looks like.

The dogs approved.

Real nice. Anybody have a pic of 1/2" pitch or experience. Just weighing the options.

I don't know if you will see 1/8" of a difference in a picture. I don't see 1/2" pitch being necessary.

With a 1/2" pitch on 10ft of floor you are going to drop 5". Where on a 3/8" pitch you will drop 3-3/4" in that same distance. That 1-1/4" difference might not seem like a lot, but it is, however probably not noticeable in a picture unless they are side my side.

Nhachman,

Are you happy with the way it came out?
