How old till they can be sold?

Post by CCBIRDDOGMAN » Fri Jul 11, 2014 8:53 am

I have a friend wanting to start a coop, I have four babies in nests right now & have too many birds so I was going to give the 4 babies to him, when are they old enough to let go? As soon as they fly down from nest? Reason I'm not sure is (other that just being a newbie to homers), i've always noticed even after they fly down dad bird still feeds them some. I don't want to let them go too soon.

Somewhere around 21 days. They need to be eating a little on their own along with still being fed.

We send them off when the "armpit" area is feathered out (no longer has skin showing).
