Quail coop build

Post by nhachman » Wed Jul 23, 2014 9:06 pm

Finally finished the major construction on my quail coop. Had to get the quail out of the brooder, they were getting too big and it was crowded. I constructed most of this with reclaimed materials. The base is a shipping crate bottom from some cabinets. The walls are roof are corrugated tin and galvanized steel that I had used for a roof over my kennels until I built my barn with a lean-to. A lot of the lumber used was scrap cedar that was used to keep the steel bands from crushing the steel delivered for my barn. Much of the hardware and wire I also had from previous building projects.

Features include a 18 pound gravity feeder I made from a section of 4" PVC and a T, a 5 gallon bucket waterer with gravity flow nipples, and a shelf in the top for the birds to fly up to to see out and build wing strength. Left to do is to build the recall pen onto the side.
