Primer blank guns

Post by DonF » Sat Oct 25, 2014 10:42 am

Found a box of #57 primer's, 1000, yesterday, never opened. Decided to try them in a modern shell. I know they are smaller than a 209 primer but didn't know how much. well, without drilling out the pocket they slip right in and after firing slip right out. I used to use modern shot shell MTY's, just use a 1/4" drill and drill out the primer pocket and the primer's drop in and fall out after firing. Only catch may be you have to used a break action gun to work it well. Shell need's to be pointed down when inserting it to keep the primer from falling out. Think I'll start carrying maybe my 410 around to fire over the dog's in training. Put's the gun in the field with you. dog's get used to hearing the gun fire and they see the gun. Slip in a live round now and then to shoot a bird with now and then. I know there are blank guns out there that fire primer's and thinking maybe I'll get one. 1000 primer's will last a long time used that way and don't have to use up expensive new primer's.
