Looking for leads/help finding a Vizsla

Post by Ecw21 » Tue Oct 28, 2014 5:58 pm

Hello friends... It has been too long since my last post. I've been faithfully reading and checking the forum though. Great as always.

I have a friend looking for a Vizsla for his family. They have extensive experience with bird dog breeds having lost their faithful GSP. Does anyone have any leads or guidance on finding a Vizsla? They have 3 young children (3-8) but plenty of time/flexibility to exercise the dog. They are really looking for a young dog NOT a puppy. While he has hunting dog experience, the dog will be predominately a companion animal.

Could anyone point me in a direction for finding a dog that might be suitable? Perhaps a dog that hasn't shown itself to be suitable for the trailing/hunting circuit? I know there are not as many vizsla breeders out there but wanted to reach out to this group since I have had so much great luck with advice here. The family sometimes watches my Brittany and crave the active nature that bird dog breeds bring. They are set on V's so wanted to start here.

Any help or guidance would be awesome!

Eric

Bob Hodges is a great guy and puts out some beautiful Vizslas....hopefully I will be able to get my next from him. Dave Doyle

Have they considered a rescue?

Google "Vizsla Rescue" , there are lots of them out there.

Go to the vizsla club of America website and contact your local rescue. There are many nice rescue vizslas that need homes.
