Beeper/Hawk Scream

Post by codym » Sat Nov 01, 2014 9:11 am

I have talked to some people that claimed if they broke up a covey having a dog with a beeper collar that would hawk scream would really make the covey hold? Has anyone had this experience? I already run an astro so it wouldn't be for location. My hunting is 90% sclaed quail and if anyone has had any luck getting them to hold with this set up please let me know! Thanks

Never found it to help on pheasant , woodcock or grouse. NO quail hunting where I live.

There is no way I would make a dog listen to that right by it's ears. Way too loud for them.

Marketing gimmick that may occasionally appear to work.

I use it but haven't seen it cause birds to hold. It helps me know when and where the dog is one point. A pheasant flushed tonight about 40 yards from me and the dog.

I bought a pair of Lovett's collars years back thinking the same thing. Hawk scream on point and intermittent beep while running. I've also tried the mouth blown predator calls to try and stop runners. They're collecting dust. Getting the dog enough experience to shepherds hook does work.
