My Pup's light bulb went on.......nothing better!!

My girl Bella's light bulb went on this week and I could not be happier!!

On Sunday in some fresh snow she was running downwind of small strip of grass between two bean stubble fields and locked up only 50' from the truck. She did not hold the point very long before the birds busted (5 hens), but I was pretty pumped to see a point on a wild bird at 5 months of age!!

Fast forward to Monday night when I took her for a quick walk after work. We were working a small cattail slough in a corn stubble field. We worked it pretty good and I were almost to the truck when I stopped and waited for Bella to catch up, she had worked out aways and was now headed towards me on a deer trail. She got within a couple feet and stopped. To my amazement she was on point, looking towards my feet. I let her point for a bit, then moved my left foot, and a rooster busted out of the waist high cover. I shot it and marked it in the cattails. As I worked my way though the slough I could hear Bella on her way to the bird and we both arrived at the same time!!

It is pretty cool to see a pup start to put all the puzzle pieces together!!

Congratulations....I'm still waiting for my pup's light to come on. Right now she's too busy playing grab butt in the field.

Congradulation for you and Bella I know you'll share many more happy moments like that.

I had Bella out again yesterday and like you guys mentioned, it is only getting better!!

The conditions were tough for hunting, way to warm and not alot of wind. Most of the birds were running like crazy, but occasionally we would get one to stick. Bella pointed 5 birds, all hens, but 4 of the 5 stuck long enough for me to flush!!

The best point of the day was on the edge of a cattail slough. Bella was running wide open on the downwind side of the slough. She hit her brakes so hard, I swear her back legs came up, and her chin tapped the ground as she went on point......she held it for 4-5 seconds before the bird felt pressured and busted!

Thats the most thrilling play in bird hunting with a dog.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.
