Me and my girl went out for a morning walk did decent for a 2 hour hunt. Bird numbers seem to be getting better in this part of the woods.

Looks like you had an enjoyable morning hunt John. Those pics remind me of the days we use to have quail when I started with bird dogs in 74 before the blizzards of 77 &78.I use to be able to go out my door in any direction jump a fence or 2 make a big circle & shoot my limit of 6 almost anytime I wanted but it has been 20 yrs since I have seen a quail in those same fields & 15 since I've heard any call in the spring from home.
I miss those days more than I know how to express.
Sending you a PM.

Ted, The last couple years we've seen our numbers start to go in the right direction, In our short time we found 4 covey of birds probable 30+ birds total. Opening morning me and my nephew had a limit of 12 in half a day 5-6 years ago I could not shot 12 in a hunting season on public land.

I'd love to chase birds in the old south, but gators get my hackles all up. I can handle snakes as long as they're not those twenty-foot pythons you guys have in Florida and I can handle spiders, coyotes, porcupines, wild cats, etc. But, I can't handle gators.

Gators really don't come into play much quail hunting but we have had tons of rain this year so lots of standing water causing ole Mr. Moccasin to be all over this year.
