Don, have you ever noticed how the real cute ones with the big eyes are a nightmare to train? Getzapped, She is a cutie, life will never be the same. Enjoy her she will bring smiles to your face for years to come.

Nothing wrong with starting "here" but there should be no pressure to comply. They are right, my advise is use the terms so she becomes familiar but she is a baby and we don't expect babies to listen to us very well either. You have the next ten years to teach so let her have some fun and think about the sit training, it might get you in trouble later.

Merry Christmas

When my pup was that age I also worked on some basic obedience commands (here and down mostly) using treats for a short session or two each day. She loved it.

I cant believe how fast she picks up training. I wish the weather would break soon, so we could spend more time in the fields.

There is a lot to be said for getting a spring puppy over a winter puppy, if everything else is equal.

Great pic and beautiful pup. I'm guessing from the look of your garage door that you don't vote Democrat! :D

My little setter's at 13 weeks now and yeah, housebreaking in below zero temps is quite the challenge. He's got it down now though and hasn't had an accident in the house for the past week. Barks to go out too so he's a pretty bright little guy. The good news is that he'll be just over 10 months for his first hunting season which should be perfect.

I found that housebreaking at below zero temps promotes quick response times from the dog.

Thats actually the overhead door at work. I own a gunshop and am a gunsmith by trade. She comes to work everyday and gets to greet all my customers. I figured it would be a good chance to socialize her.

Just to be perfectly honest I have never checked the size of the eye and compared it to their training reception and don't think I will start now.
