moon phases

Post by chickenhound » Mon Feb 16, 2015 8:43 pm

Hi,new to this site. I was wondering if any of you have the problem that I have. My gap vets crazy around the full and new moons. He is usually calm and well behaved but for 3or 4 days around the moon's he gets crazy. On the plus side he seeks to hunt even harder then usual at these time. My English pointer also used to get like this.

I don't know about dogs, but I do know that anyone who works in a hospital (and probably other professions, too) dreads the full moon. Things do go crazy. The ER gets swamped. Why? who knows. But there really seems to be a relation between phases of the moon and behavior. Why should dogs be any different?

DudeRN, there actually have been studies proving your point wrong. They all point to the fact that ER visits and their severity have little to do with the moon cycle. But working in the mental health field, I know the feeling. I think we just happen to notice it more on those nights!

Absolutely true. When you are predisposed to think something it will always appear to be true.

Clearly the subject needs to be studied more if both results have been found. Also, we both know that a "true experiment" could never be formulated because there would be no control group, so we will also be speculating
