Things I have learned in the last month of pup being home
Things I have learned in the last month of pup being home
1: There is a gravitational force generated from the underside of my couches that attracts puppy toys.
2: All puppy toys are manufactured to precise specifications that allow them to succumb to gravitational force mentioned previously and disappear.
3: Rabbit dung looks way too much like dog kibble.
4: Socks contain the canine equivalent to "cat nip".
5: House training while it is below zero is an experience not for the faint of heart.
6: Puppies are extremely offended by the thought of sweatshirts containing hood strings and will stop at nothing to rid the world of them.
Did I miss any?

Yep. Slippers are not needed and should be disposed of.

Ya, "here" means "I can"t hear you" when they have any of the above items in their possession

in my house, it is only my wife's shoes. this creates no tension at all. :roll:luvthemud wrote:Sharon wrote:Yep. Slippers are not needed and should be disposed of.

Whenever the pup does something wrong it is automatically "my dog" regardless that the entire family wanted an puppy and swore they would all pitch in to help train/watch/feed/bath the pup.
Your dog pooped you better pick it up.
Your your dog chewed my shoe you better buy me new ones
Your dog got in the trash you better clean it
Your dog wont stay off the couch when are you gonna teach her.

The tastiest snack bars are found in the cat litter pan.

Lol.
Guys, I don't know what to say. My 3 1/2 month old setter is a freakin' dream. Although housebreaking in sub zero temps was a challenge, this little fellow has not chewed a shoe or any furniture. He won't run off on me and always keeps me in sight. Will pick up any toy I toss and run it straight back to me. He loves everyone and hasn't growled once. On a walk yesterday, he locked up solid on something....foot up, tail out...wish I had a camera.
I'm about to call the breeder and tell him that he didn't charge enough.
Of course, there's one universal act that all pups cannot be broken of. Any unattended tissue or napkin WILL be snatched up and run away with!

Don't forget shoelaces. You will not own a pair of shoes that still have the normal taped up ends. Those are too much fun to attack as you walk around.

I can take a load of clothes out of the dryer and dump them on the bed. The dog will root around and ALWAYS comes up with something that belongs to my wife and run off with it.

My little angel chewed up my ipad charger cord.
....plugged it in this morning as crinkled as it is and bling, it still works.
I guess he's off the hook for this one!

Re: Things I have learned in the last month of pup being home
Puppies love the older dogs food much more than their own.
Puppies lungs and vocal chords are obviously made of a material not of this world whose power exceeds that of a Nuclear Aircraft Carrier, especially at or about, 3:38 AM.
Puppies teeth and nails are made from the sharpest material known to man.
Who knew that the black material underneath chairs/recliners to hide the springs was so tasty?
A toy that the older dogs haven't even looked at sideways for well over three years, now becomes the most important thing in their lives since the pup now likes it.
Is there anything more beautiful to the eyes (and the ears) than a sleeping puppy?
