bad day today

Post by jryan85 » Mon Apr 06, 2015 4:10 pm

I left for work this morning at 5 knowing the family dog had a check up today. He started acting funny saturday morning, he didnt want to eat saturday or sunday I thought he might have been having tooth trouble or something he just turned 11 on the 3rd of this month. Since my phone wouldnt get service inside the formwork I had to wait til lunch to find out what the vet told my wife, I knew it wasnt going to be a good thing when I got into service range and had 10 missed text from my wife. She had to have him put down because of a tumor in his stomach that was 6 inches long. I wish I would have took him I hate putting my wife though that I just didnt think it was going to go that way. Really sad day caught me off guard just I am just sitting on the couch watching the reds with his empty spot next to me. He was a great dog always by my wifes side, was a good teddy bear for my son and watched the house when I was out of town for work. He took my spot in bed when I was gone then tried to sneak back in the bed for a week when I got home. He will be missed

Condolences for the loss of your good dog. It's hard no matter how it happens. He wouldn't want for his family to be sad, so try to keep the good times in mind.

Thank you I feel bad for my wife and son. He was always my sons favorite even when we got the new puppy last year my son still always would rather play with the old man. I keep reminding them how much fun we all had and what a good life he had. I know everyone on here has atleast been though this once if not a few times so I know you guys would understand.

Forgive me if you've seen this before-

The Power of the Dog by Rudyard Kipling

There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and Sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.

Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie --
Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear.

When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet's unspoken prescription runs
To lethal shots or loaded guns,
Then you will find -- it's your own affair --
But . . . you've given your heart to a dog to tear.

When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!)
When the spirit hat answered your every mood
Is gone -- wherever it goes -- for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear.

We've sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent.
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we've kept'em, the more do we grieve;

For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-time loan is as bad as a long --
So why in -- Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

Each time we hear It sends us back in time
To feel a little of that old pain and emptiness.
We hope the sharpness of your loss
Dulls just a little before to much time goes by.
And that your pup slides up into that empty spot on the couch.
And comforts you as you do for he.
for your old dog to his last day
taught that pup to put a smile on your face.

So Sorry For Your Loss

This is worse part of owning a dog but we get through it and retain the wonderful memories of the time we had together. It will get better.

They just don't live long enough, my brother is in the same boat, his old dog is almost blind and he has trouble hearing. He will be buryed on my place where he used to live, my brother took him to his apartment to be with him until that day comes. I have 2 coming 12 now, holding my breath....

If dogs do not go to heaven, I want to go where they go when I die.
