Need a chukar vest. I rock my filson strap for pheasant but I need to carry more water when we go for chukar. Live in CA. One dog and me.

I always hear that wingworks is very good but the q5 also seems nice. Just want to see if anyone has used both. Thanks!

I don't have any experience with the q5 but I have had a WingWorks for several years and don't think you could find a better vest. They are built like a tank and should last a lifetime. Plenty of room for everything you need on your hunt and the game bag is very easy to reach and load. Loading the bird into some strap vests can be difficult but not with the WW. Good luck with your choice.

Yes. There is a pouch on the back and also a strap to lash a jacket to. WingWorks has a bunch of difference accessories you can add to the vest. Go to their website and take a look. http://wingworks.biz/

If possible you should really look at each of these vests before purchasing.

Wingworks, hands down. Q5 has engineering issues that impair functionality.

Wing Works because it rides on your hips like a backpack.

I sometimes carry 6 quarts of water, a box of shells, lunch, Alpha 100, plus other stuff in mine when chukar hunting.... A good 35 pounds!!! If this load was on my shoulders I would never make it.

I went thru a back operation- so carrying items incorrectly take their toll. A good back though is a pleasure to have on and hike with. The WW is the one hunting vest I found that meets that bill. If it wasn't for that vest I am sure I wouldn't hunt chukars- I couldn't carry the water needed for the dogs otherwise.

If you are not stuck on either. Try the Bucks Bag, it was designed and built in Idaho for chukar hunters.

I've not tried the Q5 but I have owned a WW vest for 5 years now.
I've had Filsons (and still use one for training), Cabelas and Quilomene I'll never own any other vest because I doubt I will wear the WW vest out. Its that well made.
They are a little spendy but not much more than the Filson last time I checked.
Holds plenty of water and shells. Rides on the hips, has a pocket on the backside with a tie down strap for your jacket when things warm up plus a couple extra pockets for the small stuff

I really don't think you will be disappointed in the WW vest
