Trainer in Northern California

Post by rocksteady1 » Tue May 19, 2015 2:18 pm

I'm looking to get my GSP some real work. I live in the Bay Area but I'm willing to drive a bit. Anybody have any recommendations for someone that does good work?

Contact the German Shorthair Club of Northern Sacramento. They will know someone but there is a female I would stay away from (and no, not because she is female). She gives all Trainers a bad name.

Do you want someone close by.
Randy Berry at Hastings island in Rio Vista.
Pierre Urratia up in chico. Diamond P gundogs.
Steve Klaussen at Blue Ridge kennels in Vacaville.

They all three have different approach so talk to them and see what they say and who sounds like they would be right for you. All of them are at hastings island a lot because most of the hunt tests and walking trials are there. Randy works and lives on the island.

Surprised no mention of Jessie at Quail Point Hunt Club. He does walk in one-on-one training every Saturday morning on a first come first served basis for $35. Just call and let him know you are coming and there he is from 8 to noon. You'll see him work your dog (take a camera), and he will give you an honest assessment with advice on how you could proceed.

My shorthair pup is not welcoming to strangers so I did not expect it to go well but he is just one of those classic dog men. By the time they were walking back to my truck my shorthair boy would not take his eyes off Jessie.
