Tritronics Sport basic G3---Problem

Post by oldbeek » Wed May 27, 2015 11:10 am

I was working with my dog when I noticed my collar was not working right. The transmitter was all of a sudden dead. So I changed the battery. The old battery had juice in it , but after the battery change ,the lights started lighting up. I charged the collar all night till fully charged. Next day in training, the dog was not responding. Tried the collar on myself. Got a little tingle. 4 and 5 were weaker than 3. When I got home I started to investigate. My fingers could not tolerate more than 3. Put it on my thigh and hit 4 and 5. Lifted me off the ground. Any ideas? Anyone else see this inconsistency? G3 are not supported by garmin so it is trash if it does it again.

Are you certain you had the collar snug enough around the dog's neck, so that the probes were making contact?
And when you tested it on yourself, were the probes equally pressed against your skin?

Maybe Collar Clinic can help you out if it continues to give you problems, since Garmin won't.

Collar clinic does not repair G-3. Can't get parts from Garmin which stopped supporting that model. Collar was tight on dogs flank. Yes it was tested on my bare two fingers when it was acting up.

You're having a bad techie week. If you G3 doesn't work, it is time to move on. Look at the Dogtra 2500BT( google).

Finally found a phone # for Garmin collars. Talked to a tech. The light on the collar with transmitter on 5 would go red then green. She said my collar needed a recharge procedure. Remove the batt from collar. charge battery only for 2 hrs. remove from charger for 1 minute. charge again for 2 hrs and remove for 1 minute. Do this 4 times. should solve the problem. Collar is receiveing the signal. Just collar battery to weak. If recharge procedure does not work, it is new battery time.

charge procedure worked great. set intensity dial on 5. Pressed sender on continuous. collar light solid green. Pushed collar contacts onto my leg , and had wife push momentary button. DEFINATELY WORKING! Do not think dog will ignore this in flank position.

You can test your collar by putting it next to your ear (not too close), on a higher setting you will be able to hear the contact points.
