Photo Essay: Midwest Tristate NAVHDA Test

Post by chiendog » Mon Jun 08, 2015 10:16 am

A few weeks before my birthday, my wife asked me how I would like to celebrate it. We could have a big party at home, or we could travel to South Dakota to hang around with great people and great dogs. I chose the latter. Because I am a dog nut.

So we headed to Sioux Falls and spent the weekend watching dogs in a NAVHDA test and taking photos. Here's a selection of some of the keepers. Enjoy!

Great pics, except the one of the dog lunging at the flushed bird. That habit got a great dog of mine shot in my younger, dumber days. Train hold to flush. Your dog deserves it.

Oldbeek, the photo of the lunging dog was taken during an NA test of very young dog, so no correction could be made at the time. But I can guarantee you that the trainer/handler is working on steadiness now though. Take a look at the third picture in the series of shots of the dog leaping..that is the handler doing the 'WTF" hand gesture....

I was relieved to see that last photo turned out. Never used a camera that nice before. It was great to have you at the event, looking forward to having you at the National meeting in January.
