Midwest DIY hunt

Post by Pheasanttracker » Sun Nov 22, 2015 2:52 pm

If I was to do a DIY hunt on public land in the Midwest, what state and county should I focus my attention. Ultimately would like to stop enroute for overnight and day hunt in additional state back and from where ever I end up going. Trying to keep it within 2 day drive from eastern PA. Planning for next fall. Any help appreciated.

Focus is on pheasant but would be happy to find sharpies or quail enroute

Do think I will have any problem finding enough public land? I don't mind working for birds but would like to see a few pheasant every hour or so I would be happy. If I see three or four grouse in an afternoon or morning I would be satisfied.

If you know where to look, grouse won't be a problem in MN. I saw 10 today and moved a few more that I didn't see flush.
