East Idaho Bird Hunting

Post by Gertie » Sun Dec 13, 2015 2:30 pm

I may be heading back to visit family over Christmas and might stick around for a few days and try to do some hunting. My folks live east of Pocatello about 60 miles (right on the Wyoming border) and I'm wondering if anyone might be willing to share some places within a couple hours of there where I might be able to get into some chukar, huns, or pheasants. No need to tell me your honey holes (unless you want to  ). I would appreciate just pointing me to some general areas where I could take my nephew out (he's 11) and let the dogs work. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Gertie, The only seasons that will be open will be huns, chukars and forest grouse in that area. You'll have to go back at least the Burley/Rupert area to hunt pheasants and quail. There are huns on public land around Pokey and Idaho Falls. Some chukars around Pokey, but your best bet would be south of Burley or up north of Arco.
