Black and White Brittanies

Post by Brittlver » Tue Jan 05, 2016 4:33 pm

Anyone know of any litters coming out of South Dakota? I am looking at a Brittany that I found on Craigslist that is Black and White and he stated that it came from South Dakota. I am hoping that when I meet him on Saturday that he can give me more information about where he came from. I know they are an Rare color and Undesirable. Is it possible it could be a French Brittany. He looks a little big to be one.

That would be a French Brittany if it's even pure bred

I agree, looks a lot like a springer, the more I look at it the less I think its a britt. I would want to see papers

I am another one who would question the ancestry of the dog in the photograph. French Brits are by far the most common type here and I have a black, orange and white brit of French breeding myself ......I see a good number of French brits and some are black and white and large and some are black and white and small but none of them have a face like the dog in the pic.
I also have 2 cocker and one springer spaniels .....the dogs face looks spaniel-ish or even border collie-ish. There's nothing wrong with that if a spaniel or a border collie is what you want but I'd check up before I bought the dog.

I remember last year posting a picture of a dog asking if it was a Brittany and then the 'experienced' got it wrong .
I never explained ..............glad to know the same.

I don't know squat about Brittanies; but IMO the EAR SET is all wrong on that dog in the picture.

The guy hasn't responded to me in the last 4 days so I am guessing he sold it anyways. I am also guessing he doesn't know what it is and someone told him it is a brittany. Oh well maybe it is fate telling me that I need to buy another puppy.

French Brittanys come in Black and White, among other color combos. With that said, that picture does not really look like any French Brittany that I have ever seen. If you are looking for French Brittany's in SD Plum Creek is an well established kennel in SD -- http://french-brittany.com/ .

Doesn't look like a brit but doesn't look like a springer either. Mixed heritage.

I breed French Brittanys and I would say that trying to guess from a picture isn't really possible. The face is fine, I can think of a good reputable breeder that has one that looks like that ones face. Ear set? Impossible to tell from the picture. A different expression would be needed to make a judgement about incorrect ear set. All in all, one picture doesn't tell the whole story and isn't enough to make a call.
