South Dakota lodges

Post by zrp » Sun Jan 17, 2016 7:21 pm

I'm putting together a hunt next fall for myself and some old college buddies. A reunion of sorts. I was hoping someone could recommend an affordable lodge for several hunters. We would prefer self guided hunts as we will have plenty of dog power. Some of the guys like waterfowl hunting as well so a combo hunt would be a nice bonus.

Duck hunting applications must be in by mid July, I believe. Pheasants licenses can be bought the day of.

I second the nomination of Rivett's Refuge, though not sure if their insurance allows self-guided hunting. Many lodges won't any more. You might also look at Warne Ranch near Pierre, Ringneck Retreat near Hitchock, Double P Ranch, R&R Pheasants near Seneca, Jim River Ranch near Redfield. All are less-than-Orvis endorsed in terms of price so may be amenable to your plan. Prairie Sky Ranch near Veblen offers pheasants and can connect you with North Dakota waterfowling just across the border. Good luck.
