Astro 220
I know that the 320 is supposed to be a little better, but if you found a great deal on the 220 and some DC30 or 40 collars, is there any reason to not pick it up? It'll be 10 times better for keeping up with my dog than what I have now, which is naddathing.
Re: Astro 220
I've been running an Astro 220 and DC30 collars for about 5-6 years.
Does what I need.
I'll upgrade when it breaks.

I don't think Garmin makes the DC 40 collars anymore so unless you have access to a collar the 220 may not be a good choice.

If you can get both the 220 receiver and the DC 30 or 40 collar with it...the answer is ...Go for it.
I have a 220 with a DC 30 that works just fine...after I replaced the battery in the DC 30. When the battery died I called Garmin to see if I could get a replacement/spare. They told me at that time, that they had no 30's at all and they had a small supply of 40's which were reserved as replacements for 40's only. Sooo, as mentioned previously, if the collar craps out... you may not have an option.
I also have a 320 with a ?? T5 ?? collar. It is a bit quicker to pick up the signals and it seems to reach out more(probably due to the longer antenna on the collar), but I find no real advantage to it.

Get it!
Re: Astro 220
I'm still using a 220 with two DC30 collars. The system works great. When it breaks, I will upgrade.
Re: Astro 220
I bought dc -40 collars on ebay last year. You might try a Batteries Plus store.

DC-30 and Dc-40 batteries on ebay. Garmin only wants you to buy they new collars and if they do no support the old one you may. Same with old tritronics, garmin not supporting them. Thank goodness for ebay as you can get used or aftermarket parts any day of the week.
