What hunting trip or destination do you dream about?

For me, hunting pheasants in SD is the trip I still dream about often. I have gone to SD many times since the 1990's. I love it, we always hunted without a dog. Now that I have a dog, I would like to taje a different kind of trip there and explore the northern part of the State.

I have an abundance of opportunities for different species of birds here in Idaho and Se Oregon, but I would live to do a midwestern grouse and woodcock hunt.

Hope to get to know you all and have my posts get approved before being a week old.

same simple wish for me too. would love to do a lodge type hunt once in my life - where the pheasants are plentiful, the food great, and the lodgings comfortable. Oh and my brothers were there to hunt with me

The funnynthing is I have done a lodge hunt 4 or five times in my life.. We even got to the point we just have a couple of farmers that we pay to hunt my favorite is the later. My goal is to go and do a public land, wia, gpa and wpa hunt. I do want to go with my brother and my son. Driving from one spot to another and doing it the hard way with the three of us.

It is a dream of mine.

I'd go with Mid-Western Grouse and maybe get back to Alaska for Grouse and Western Montana for Grouse.

Going next year with my adult kids and 3 Golden Retrievers. We will be in North Dakota for waterfowl, pheasant, and whatever added game birds should be available....a solid week of hunting!
We are already planning it!

The actual destination would be less important than the dogs and the friends along and, simply being there.

However, if actually dreaming, I would dream about a trip reunited with those friends and dogs now gone, as dreams make that possible.
We would, in that dream, revist some alder runs in the U.P., some switch and shortgrass on the plains and, most of all, the better days of ruffed grouse in the central appalachians.
We also would hit some taverns for soup and a sandwich and hear again some Yoopers talk....or drink some cherry cider from PA...or, if lucky, have a bone-in ribeye touched just enough by the flame to make the long day in Kansas all the more worthwhile.
It would be a good dream.

Population across the Rainey River was huge last year. Ruffed Grouse, Spruce hens and Sharpies . Hearing this from the Canadians that live in the Fort Francis and Dryden, area on up to Red Lake. Numbers were thinner in Red Lake area. Hearing this from Americans who hunt just across the Border. We do live in some of the best grouse in USA. Iron rangers do know what good numbers are. Close to home . Only 90 mi. to border. I'd like to see some of the country my husband talks about .

The deep snow made the hills steeper this year for some strange reason, I like your dream hunt too.

I ran a dog on them in death valley years ago, a lot of birds in flat areas there but I don't have a comparison, I didn't trek up many mountains, there may have been more up there. My dream hunt is Arizona quail. I have wanted to shoot a means my whole life but I want to shoot all three there. I am blessed to guide some hunts here in the Adirondacks though for grouse and woodcock and I feel honored every time I get to go out.

No doubt. I would love to go hunting with you. For a minute I thought you were CW from the fisheries experiment station in Logan. I then looked at the dogs and realized everything was l wrong.

I would like to get a travel trailer and pull it to Wisconsin to hunt grouse and woodcock all of October. After that hit up the Dakotas for pheasant for a month or so, then go to Arizona and New Mexico for quail in the colder months. It'd be around a 4,500 mile trip for me.

I would love to do a chukar hunt with some far ranging pointers.

I also always thought it would be cool to go to a high end southern plantation, stay in top notch accommodations, eat good food and ride on a horse drawn wagon while the pointers worked out ahead of us. I know it's not everybody's cup of tea, but I would love to do it once.

The one I finished this year.

11,850 miles. Over 100 days in the field. Chukar, Sage Grouse, Ruffed Grouse, Sharp Tail, Pheasant, Quail, Huns, Mearns.

Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, AZ and CA

Yes, I am planning the same trip next year :D

A field with pheasants or other game birds where I can see the dogs work. I don't care if it is a mile or 100 miles away, just want to be able to follow the dogs again.

i always dreamed of SD but now planning a Kansas trip instead for next year. I would want to hunt public or CRP land and found the limits higher in kansas as well as opportunity for quail and sharp tails. Either way just hunting in vast fields of wild birds with friends and our own dogs is enough to get my blood rushing.
