New puppy / older puppy

Hi All.

We just got a 12 week old female GSP puppy and we already have a 16 month old male GSP puppy. Both are 100% house dogs. Any tips or advise?

It looks like the male is starting to open up to her (only after 24 hours) but they are still playing pretty hard. He tries to bump her around and does open and show her teeth but never actually bites. She then does the same and actually manages to make him take a few steps back. At this point I am pretty confident this is just play and they are figuring each other out. I can say that both do know I am pack leader and when I say stop, they stop. Again, just looking for any tips for something I may be missing.

I'd stay right out of it unless someone is getting badly hurt. ... oh yes, and enjoy. :)

I agree with Sharon, stay out of it unless the play is to ruff for in the house, then put them out. For a period of time my GSP's, male and female, thought coming in the house was time for grab "bleep". My female Cattle Dog told them how the cows ate the cabbage.

In a short period of time the female will show the male what "Bitch" means :D

Hahaha - I figured.

So for a quick update - I have been letting them do their thing and I must say, my wife and I are VERY proud of our male as he has been gentle enough with her while still playing. He is also allowing her to be touched and eat and sleep with him. I think we got 2 great dogs in our family. Unbelievably the puppy is sleeping throughout the entire night without any accidents.

Just make sure no one in the family rewards bad behavior

My wifey has a small lap mongrel, the new Brittany pup who quickly exceeded the weight of the 2.5 year old dog ....
Well the older dog started defending itself when puppy big dog started stomping around - mom felt bad for the little dog so when the nipping ' biting happened - God save me, she said good dog.....

Yeah, that took me another 1.5 months to get straightened out...
