Short barrel shotgun?

Post by mountaindogs » Wed Jun 29, 2016 12:26 pm

Been looking for an inexpensive used 12ga pump for HRC training. Fire blanks, teach dog to wait through realistic gunfire, teach swing with the gun etc. its for training so i need it to be able to handle a few scratches and whatnot. Also the short is smaller and lighter slightly. Retriever setups get heavy with launchers and stuff.
Any, how have a good deal on a short barrel (LEGAL!!) used. Not cut down. Ots a self defence marketed gun. Should i buy or no? Why or why not?

You can get a Stoeger 12 ga coach gun for around $325.

Stoeger sxs get tons of use in cowboy action shooting so handle thousands of rounds. Not the prettiest wood or finish but good workhorses.

I'm guessing that is the 311? That was a super working gun but heavy.

Really late reply to your post.........But if you are still looking for a shotgun, here's what I did: Since you can get a pump with an 18.5" barrel and a pump with a 26 inch barrel that both weigh 7 pounds why not buy the longer barrel so you can use it to hunt with as well as train? Most of the weight difference in shotguns comes in the type of receiver and the density of the wood in the stock, not in the length of the barrel. For a big weight difference buy a NEF Pardner single shot 20 gauge 5.5 lbs or a 12 gauge 6 pounds.
