FDSB registration - changing the name of a dog
Can it be done? I'm in the process of purchasing a 4 year old female pointer who's got a pretty silly name on the papers. Putting her in my name, can I change hers?

I think it can be done pretty easily, unless she has been bred. If there are progeny out there, then changing her name, changes their pedigree. Give the American Field a call and ask them directly.

I believe the answer is a YES.
There will, of course, be a fee. It is my understanding that if the dog does not have any field trial placements, the fee is pretty minimal, but there is an additional charge for each placement.
As rinker said...call the Am. Field. They will tell you exactly what you need to do.
