We finally have decided

Post by Brenttos » Wed Dec 14, 2016 10:00 pm

So after much thought and consideration, I feel a Lab would be the best fit for our family. Now I need some breeder recommendations, if in California it would be even better. I am not afraid of the shipping process so that's also doable.

If you are looking for a 'Field Bred Lab' the website https://www.entryexpress.net/loggedIn/default.aspx has a section that lists breeders with pups, by state and breed! I found my last Golden through this site. You do not have to sign up for this website, although it is free. Good Luck...

Brenttos,

I am over in Atascadero and I recommend you contact Craig Smith in Tracy. His telephone number is 209-481-4640.

Craig Smith (Double C Kennels) has trained both of my GSP's. He does not breed Labs, but he does train and own them, so he will have great contacts.

He trains in the mornings, so early afternoon is a good time to call him.

Craig is a very good person that uses a soft touch in his training.

Best wishes

Here's a good place to look http://www.retrievertraining.net/forums ... ab-Puppies
They require hips and eye (both parents) testing to have pups listed.

You live in one of the hot beds of retrieverdom. I'm out of touch these days but I believe that Trieven Kennels in Wy. And Candlewood in Wi. Are still producing great dogs and have been for 40 some years. I'd go Candlewood in a heartbeat.,I think thatbMary'sbrecord of producing FC's is probably unequaled.

If you are pheasant hunting with the dog mostly I would take a seriously long look at tiger mountain, I own one; and two of my buddies have since bought dogs out of that kennel. They are killer on pheasant. I don't know much about other kennels, but so far out of that kennel every dog I have seen has been pretty amazing.

I've been considering pointing labs. I feel it may be hard to find a started pointing lab that has been trained in upland and also waterfowl hunting. I could be wrong but I'm still on the search.
