Dog Registration

Post by Dakotazeb » Tue Feb 07, 2017 1:38 pm

I've always registered my dogs with the AKC. With my new pup I also got a registration form for the Field Dog Stud Book. Any advantage of registering with the FDSB? I know NSTRA also pushes registration with the UKC but I think the dog has to be registered with an organization like the AKC before the UKC will accept it. My pup is a female that I have no intentions of breeding and probably will be spayed. The only field trials she will probably run are NSTRA. My feeling is to register with the AKC and be done with it. Any opinions?

I had a dog or two that were eligible for dual registry, but I only registered him with AKC because that was where my interests were. But I held onto their FDSB registration forms in case I changed my mind later. Who knows what a young pup might have talent for in the future :)
Check with ABC to see if they run any dual sanctioned trials; if they do it might be worth having options for later down the road.
