Another empty collar

Post by shags » Thu Feb 23, 2017 5:50 pm

My best old boy died in my arms yesterday. He slipped away peacefully with the help of our wonderful vet.

In all his thirteen years, my boy never once quit on me. He was all heart, until his heart finally failed him. We had a bond like I've never had with another dog. He always knew what I wanted before I knew I wanted it, and I always was able to trust him.

In the coming days in those quiet random moments when memories of him flood me, I know that he is somehow with me still, his muzzle gently nudging my hand.

Rest easy, old friend.

Sorry to hear of your loss. We've all gone through it and know it's a tough time. Had to put my once in a lifetime dog down in November and I'm still not completely over it. Guess all we can do is treasure the memories. Take care my friend.

Shags -

As has been said, most of us have all been there and know what you are feeling. They are with us for much to short a time.

The thing is that those dogs, especially the special ones... do indeed leave a hole there. But the reason they leave a hole is because, in the process of worming their way into our hearts they made our hearts just a little bigger.

Memories are forever and I am sure you have many wonderful ones.

Puppy breath is a wonderful thing. Just sayin'.

So sorry Shags. The Lorf just doesn't allow them enough time with us. Peace for both of you.

Sorry to hear Shags and even though we know it is going to happen it leaves a hole that takes time to fill.
