I had a used Tri Tronics that was given to me but it was a much older model that is no longer made. I was just looking for newer technology without breaking the bank

I have, and use, a TT Flyway Special that I bought about 25-30 years ago. It is essentially a Pro 200 without the tone feature.
The battery on the unit croaked about 10-15 years ago and when I called them they said to send it in. They said they would upgrade it to the XLS model for a small fee over that of just swapping out the battery, since they were going to the G2 and those XLS parts would be no longer needed. That was a no brainer. I got a virtually new, hand built unit with a new collar unit for a very few bucks.
It is all I have ever used and all I have ever needed. It has 6 levels of continuous and 18 levels of momentary stim.
I saw a TT Pro 100 XLS reconditioned at Collar clinic. It is similar to mine but has a tone feature that mine does not. It has 18 levels of continuous and 6 levels of momentary stim.

Re: need a new e collar
either one is a good choice you cant go wrong .check out the opions of the one you like best .do they have the same range and and settings do both have vibrate are they both the same size weight .but both are a good choice
Re: need a new e collar
Problem with the XLS is that the Transmitter and receivers are huge. Either one of your choices will work fine. I have always used the field 70. it does not have any frills but you can run multiply dogs and the range is more than your choices..........Cj

Re: need a new e collar
There are utile features that I look for in a collar. They include:
- practical functionality, (which for one means NOT having e-progs on the bottom and beeper enunciator on the top)
- timely/user friendly,
- robust/sturdy,
- lightweight, meaning the collar(s) itself should be very light weight (minimizes dog awareness sensitivity),
- respectable brand with good customer service.
I use/abuse the Dogtra 2502 on a number of dogs. It has only let me down on rare occasion which more-often-than-not was a reflection of the operator rather than the unit.

Re: need a new e collar
I bought a Sport Basic with 2 ea G-3 collars recently on e-bay for $130.00. Garmin stopped selling a battery for the G-3 collar, so seller may have thought he was selling an obsolete collar, but an after market company has filled that void. The G-3 has a beep, and 10 momentary and continuous. stimulations. 3/4 mile range in hilly country. I like it. Already have had the Sport Basic for the last 10 years prior to buying this one.

I'm sorry Mav. I should have responded to the two you asked about. I will refrain, there-in.
