Kennel size

Post by Kovan » Fri Sep 28, 2018 8:23 am

Just wondering what kennel size do you guys use to transport your dogs when going out for a hunt. large or extra large? I have a large but I am not sure if its suitable for him on a ride.

I have a 65-70 lbs 6 month old Lab

any advice would help thanks.

I use a large for my setter and he’s only 37 lbs. but he also probably has quite a bit more room than needed. I’m sure a large will do just fine. I’ve seen a lot of people use larges for like 60-65lb dogs. Xlarge would give the dog some extra room and that way if he grows he has the room needed.

The kennel should be large enough that the dog can get in with its head down and lay down. I use a rough tuff intermediate for 50-65lb dogs. I would get a large for a lab.

thanks, this will just be for him to ride in. at home he stays in a crate that is big enough for him. but wasn't sure if a large kennel (which is smaller then his crate) will be ok for 2-3 hours drive.

I like a crate that is small for transporting. Safer for the dog. I carried 2 Brits in a large and they had plenty of room.
