Dogtra Pathfinder

Post by brindleplott » Tue Dec 18, 2018 11:47 am

Just got my Pathfinder yesterday. Skimmed through the manual, and played with it around the house.
Looking for some answers that I couldn't find in the manual, or on the internet.
-Will it still work outside of a saved offline map area?

I have used mine in NC and Florida. I just start it up and it loads the area that I am in. I personally have not had an issue with the map.
Hope this helps.

I've used mine in 3 different states and haven't used the map function. I know it works with maps saved or not, if that's the question you're asking.

NC Quailhunter, and nevermind thanks for the response.
I looked back at my post. I didn't ask the question completely.
Will it still work without cell service, outside of a saved offline map area?

That I am not sure of. I haven't been lucky enough to get somewhere where the phone is out of service. Sorry about that.

When I used one, I would actually put it in airplane mode as soon as I put it on the dog. I did that because I was in an area with no reception and didn't want to zap the cell phone batteries.

Never had any problems with it.

I set my phone to airplane mode like JONOV does for the same reason battery life. Cell service isn't needed for tracking or correction function. I use the correction function while hunting for the tone, because My dog has learned to recall when I use tone the icon. What are you wanting to do with maps on your phone? So far the best gadget I've found for mapping an area to hunt is a ipad with on x hunt app.

Just wanted to make sure it worked without cell reception, and saved offline maps. Alot of the places I hunt have no cell service, or poor service.
I already have OnX on my phone it works great for knowing where property lines are.
