As some of you may know, long time Moderator Al Esgar, (EZZY333) posted in a Christmas thread that he's dealing with a really serious illness.

We just wanted to recognize him, and say thanks for all the time and energy Al has spent on Gun Dog Forum the past decade.

As a moderator, he has spent literally thousands of hours helping fellow gun dog owners with his years of experience. Al is SO passionate about dogs and hunting, and has really done an amazing job for so many years keeping the Forums alive.

The management and moderators sincerely appreciate all the help he's given to members over the years, and wish him the best.

My sincere "Thank you!" to Ezzy, too - he helped me get up and running as a Mod years ago, offered great advice, suggestions, opinions and support, and answered all my questions (even the off-the-wall ones) whenever asked. Over the years I've found him here online virtually every day (and night!) when I've checked in, generously lending his expertise in so many areas. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Ezzy, with gratitude!

Thank you Ezzy for the advice and the frustrations, when I didn't want to accept that I was wrong about something, and always putting the dogs first. Your dedication to the forum and to us is appreciated. Get well soon.

Ezzy,
I posted a quick thank you on another thread when I saw that you had posted, but these new mods were sleeping on the job and didn't make me move it. Thought I should probably post a proper thank you in the correct location.

Although I don't post as much as some, I have frequented this community for the last eight years and have learned a tremendous amount. I have gained valuable friendships, I am a better dog owner, dog trainer, hunter, communicator and I am as passionate as ever about this hobby. As said before, this is in no small part because of your willingness to share your knowledge and the unique ability to keep ours on track. You found a place where you were able to cast a wide net and reach a lot of people. I am thankful that this wealth of knowledge is documented organized and easily accessible because I reference it often.

It some times amazes me that a group of folks that share the same interests and passion can be in so much disagreement at times, but you have done a heck of a job refereeing.

Thank you

Garrison

I not only read Ezzy's posts but use the search function to look up his observations and advice when I have a problem or question. Many years of his postings have given us--or me,anyway-- a repository of sensible informed information.

Well, as of last week I signed on for Hospice care since we can find nothing that is working on the Cancer, that is man made and Hospice and our prayers to our Heavenly Father seem to be the two items that are still here to help me through this. Just to keep you up to date I will try to post as things change but for goodness sake, ask when you have a question. I am becoming better educated in dog training, cancer side effects and pain management everyday it seems and those may be the only really good reasons for me to even be here. I have been blessed with as great a family, friends, and knowledgeable people around me as I could ever find.

With that said the pain seems to be primarily in my legs and very gradually gets a little more severe, hence the tripling of my morphine as well as the oxi-codine which seems to be helping. We will see as time goes on. I thank the Good Lord for giving me another day here on Planet Earth , not only for my convenience but also to try and set an example of what Faith can do for you if you just believe and use those beliefs that will let each of us to see and understand the beauty surrounding us everyday.

May your God bless you everyday and help you love your neighbor as well as yourself,

Good to hear from you, Ezzy, even though your update saddens.

Hospice can be a great help to you and those who take care of you. Take advantage of whatever services they offer. Use your painkillers as you need them and try to stay ahead of the pain,

Today I saw a sign on a church that I pass on the way to town:

Look back and be thankful. Look forward and have faith.

God bless you and yours.

Any new word on Ezzy?
I am doing OK as of now with not a lot of pain except for my legs which are just so weak I have trouble getting up or down and I have to use a walker of some type to get around. So guess I shouldn't complain when I look at my age and see what some others are going through. I have found that my family and friends are just great. One of my Pigeon racing friends saw an ad for a van about 100 miles from here that had a wheel chair and a scooter lift in it so he decided to go look at it and see if it was something I might use down the road and sure enough he comes back with it. A 2000 Cheve van with both lifts working plus it is outfitted for the woman that had bought it new for herself when she lost complete usage of her legs. he got ot bought for 3400 dollars and it runs great but I have done nothing with it so far but title it and put in my shed for an insurance type thing as the weakness progresses. I am on a high dose 3 times a day of morphine plus some oxy-con if the pain come through the morphine which it does occasionally. Thanks Don for asking as it feels good to know people are thinking of you. Between all of you and the Good Lord thinking I still have some usefulness here on Planet Earth, I Plan on sticking around for a while but I have to admit things do change day to day and that is the way I AM APPROACHING LIFE, knowing there are things you can change and things you can't, learning the difference, and worrying about the ones I can. Love ya all,

Ezzy

All who appreciated him should consider putting a post at the obituary board, letting his family know that he was highly regarded and liked by those whom they will never meet. Never hurts to have the kids and grandkids know that other adult people thought their dad was a great guy who contributed greatly to others.
